When you are a "guest" browsing POTN, does the view count on a thread increase?

The reason why I ask is because I see posts from thread OP's who quote "x" number of views and no comments. They might all be guests who can't post.

Today for example, at this time 20:38 GMT, there are 3,420 guests and only 747 members viewing.

No.. It's simply ayone browsing the threads. As you're probably aware, a huge amount of posts get created every day, and not everyone can pass comment. It could well be that the shots aren't spectaular or eyecatching enough to pass comment. There's a number of reasons.

It's kind of like when you pass a shop window and look at the display, but don't go into the shop to look further. Probably a case of using more imaginative titles or involving descriptions to go with the shots (asking specific questions or asking for comments usually helps prompt people to respond).

Don't let the lack of replies get you down though, it certainly doesn't mean that people don't like them.

That is what I thought Pete, just something to let the peeps who post those kinds of comments to remember ;-) So you could have had your thread viewed by guests only who can't post.

I reckon there should be a timer on the forum that after 2 mins of viewing a thread, pops up a message with "Say something then!", if you are a member :-) Configurable in User CP?
