I took some pictures at the drag races. I gave the driver of one of the cars a photo of him doing a nice wheelstand, in exchange for an autograph on my copy. He contacted me and I just sold him another copy.

I was just excited and had to tell someone. :)

Picture can be seen in this thread. (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32314)

Congrats! It's an excellent photo even without the pop out effect!

You stumbled onto a viable method of making sales. I did this with cruisers and classics, and although a bit of work to print, go back and find the owner, give him a print, a business card, and chat him up, it does produce commissions. One owner's wife had me mount three 24x36's in one frame. That brought $750, and just prior to Christmas, was very welcome.

You might consider making notecards out of 4x6's, instead of a large print, for your donations.

Paul you might want to consider an online store. Printroom (http://printroom.com) is a good one. You can hand out business cards that will have a url where they can view and buyt your photos.
They also have a coupon card you can buy upfront then sell to the customers at the event. They enter the card number and order their pictures, all prepaid. I am going to do one for an upcoming skateboard competition and sell them a card they will be able to redeem for 2 5x7's and 1 8x10. It is a good way to increase your sales.

Thanks John and Jeff for the helpful hints in expanding my income. These kind of hints are always welcome.

Memorial Day weekend I did another one of these photo for autograph of a late model dirt track owner/driver I know. No sales yet from this one, seen here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=33720). But I guess I can hope. :)

I did think of you Jeff when I shot here. I remembered some of your hints, like look out, stay out of the way, and listen to the track personal, when shooting around the track and pits. It is a dangerous place. Thanks for that also.
