I see many pictures posted with the photographers name in the corner...1. how do I get my name on my pictures...is it just something you do in pp or is it something I have to do on every single picture?

I've never heard it referred to as fingerprinting. I just answered a similar question in this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=333774). Alternately you could look in the post processing forum for threads involving watermarking.
You don't have to manually do each image but can record an action to do it for you. There are third party plug ins that will also facilitate this if you want. A google search on "photoshop watermarking" will get you a long way on the road to solving this for you.

I scanned mypersonal handwritten signature and used Photoshop to create a brush, then I just stamp my signature at the bottom.

I have done this too. But these days I prefer to put a black border around my photos and put the name and copyright data there - a Photoshop Action can easily do this to batches of files.
