I finally got a lightening strike.:D

The posts earlier on this forum really got my fever up to catch a storm. Since then the only storms that we have had were rain and wind only. Then this week at midnight I heard the thunder. I looked out and no rain was coming down. So much for sleep, I grabed my G-1 and tripod and set it up on the deck.

Set at 8 seconds and pointed it in the general direction of the storm and tripped the shutter. I took 2 or 3 but the best stuff was on the other side of the sky. soooo. I would reframe and shoot another 2 or 3, now the best was where I was framed before. :eyes I snapped at least 50 shots and this one was the only keeper. ( I love digital) :) I think it shows "dark and dangerous"

I am looking forward to a big strike in the future. Since this has been my goal, I have looked at storms a little differently.

Eric,

All I can say that this is a beautiful shot! It has depth and it's alive. Congrats!

Nice shot Eric. I like it a lot. This is one of those moments when you wished the G1 had a slightly better zoom and longer shutter speeds!

Cool shot! Is this original color?

Thanks for the feedback.

The photo as I tried to describe above was a lucky one. It was pitch black outside and I could not really tell where it was pointed. I just took a guess of the area and pushed the button.
I did not change the color, I did slightly darked and increased contrast to the image to make the bolt show a little better and some crop. Basically it is the camera shot. The color was because of the clouds were several layers and the lightening was the only light source.
