Does anybody know if it is possible to make a good deal going to the shop. If You buy several items is it possible to pursuade the sales people there to cut maybe $50 - $100+ off the price?

I have started thinking that when going to Orlando this september I might go via New York and visit the shop in person to buy 1 or 2 new lenses.

Tommy:
Actually, you can do better quite often not buying directly at the store. If you buy something there, they will have to charge you New York sales tax which is usually much more expensive than whatever you might pay for shipping. If they ship an item out of NY, then they don't have to charge sales tax. :?

Go figure.

My problem is if I buy over the internet the shipping is added and then 25% danish sales tax is added.

An example.

100-400 L lens $1300 + $61,50 in shipping. Then add 25% and the total price for me is $1701 !

This means my saving drop from 39% to 24% (which of course is quite some money also)

How much is the NY sales tax?

I emailed B&H and said that I wanted to make a huge purchase and would they consider a discount they said no.

Maybe being there in person makes a difference. I know that in my lokal shop I can usually get further reductions of any email quoted prices when I show up in the store.
