Does anyone know if the focussing screen in the 10d is interchangable? I would like something a little more visual, like a split prisim.

I was using an old Vivitar the other day (I think a 3000s?) and I loved the focussing screen. Made me long for similar ease of use on my 10D. Come to think of it, my first ever SLR, which was a cheapo Zenit I got in 1981, had a cool spilt-focus screen too...

Anyone think we'll get this kind of screen in the future (on a Canon DSLR)?

The high end (EOS1 series) DSLR do have interchangeable focus screen.

Cheers, nosquare! Thanks for the info!

Now... does anyone here use an alternative screen? If so, what type is it and how do you rate it?

I changed my screen on my A2, to a grid. I didn't like it because
on my original A2 screen it had the focusing squares that would light
up as to which focusing point I had "active". With the new screen I
lost the ability to see what focusing point I had selected (through the
viewfinder).....

I took it off after 6 months of trying to get used to it.
