I was out looking for GBH rookeries when I spotted this about 60 feet off the ground and 50 yards away. Yes, it is the ultra-rare New Hampshire Pink Flamingo.:eek:

Well, I have no idea who put this up there or why and I can't imagine how they got it up there either. It is at least 60 feet off the ground in a scrub pine on the edge of a bog.

Well, whoever did it and for what ever reason will remain a mystery to me till I can ask around town (Meredith, NH.)

One thing is for sure though they really fooled me. as until I looked at it throught the lens, I really thought I was on to something. I practicaly tripped over myself trying to get out of the car and get a quick shot of this "rare" creature before it took off.:o

Is it possible someone has put it there to try and stop Bald Eagles from nesting?

Yes, I think Dave's right. It's probably been put there as a very visible deterrant to stop other birds nesting in that spot.

Keep that place in mind. You'll probably find something very worthwhile in it's place when the intended occupants get there...!

Very funny Paul. I would have fallen for it too. Maybe someone wanted some eagle interaction shots, cause that thing won't scare any eagle away. :)

All that's missing is a gnome and a rooster weather vane. Maybe it was a pledge or a dare.

I read a post a while back where someone took photos of duck decoys before they realized it was artifical ducks.

OMG, you got a shot of the Plasticine Flamingo. I don't think I've ever see one on a nest like that! Wow!
