The idea:
Your photos + our design and creative services + professional book binder to make a unique digital coffee table book.
Most people think only of their wedding albums these days when it comes to making a nice grand album... but I think this is leaving a lot of money on the table.
What if I offered a service where I would allow you to send me "your" photos from your digital P&S, "you" pick out the size and style of the finished product (say a 8x8 square hardback book with 50 pages) then I take the pictures and color correct them add some effects (e.g. ripped edge here and there, artistic b&w, and other design elements) to them, and have them printed at a book binder (plenty of threads discussing favorites among them). I'm planning on targeting this in my neighborhood "newsletter" for which I can advertise directly to about 1000 households for no charge.
Further positioning would include that most people have some sort of digital camera these days, and most bought in the past 3 years don't take "bad" pictures, and are all of at least 5mp or so. Also most people have oodles of their JPGs just sitting on their hard drive, shared probably only in low-res to their family through e-mail... or maybe they print at home on inkjet (which fades, flakes, or peels if they don't know what they're doing or using cheap stuff)
Any thoughts on if this will fly or flop?
