Just tried it with the image that produced severe banding in the reds with 1.3.1. Still the same problem.
I notice the default noise suppression is now higher than in 1.3.1

They have not yet officially fixed the color clipping problem with 10D and D-Rebel files. The new version should include a new "sunset" profile that adjusts for the clipped yellows, and works in tandem with some tweaks to the processing algorithm. However, a complete fix is not scheduled until October.

Just to follow up: the new "10D Sunset" profile may not be a 100% fix for the neon yellow/green problem, but it seems to be a VERY good workaround.

I'd like to see some tests comparing the results to a color card, but from my limited sampling with a few problem images, the partial fix does the trick. 8)

I think some of the more vocal complainers were landscape photographers who saw gobs of unnatural bright yellow smeared across the sky, to complement the day-glo green foliage in their images. Now those colors are a little more subtle.

Surprisingly, the profile does not seem to muck up skintones at all. Again I haven't seen a stringent test, but until I have a reason to change I'm setting this as my default profile. :)

It's really hard to believe that after seeing my "red shirt banding" problem, that the creator just shrugged it off as being only "different" than the conversion of other software, and not a real problem.
I mean, it was pretty darn bad.

I had problems with clipping and color shifts in the shadows, and could prove it by listing the color triplets read out from their eyedropper, but was told essentially to get lost because I didn't have a calibrated monitor (?!). In particular, MTapes beats that dead horse every time someone complains about differences in develops between C1 and other RAW converters. This, in spite of the fact that both images are being viewed on the same monitor, and myself and others have forwarded the offending images (including screen grabs, as well) to MTapes and company, only to be completely ignored.

I'll at least go to the trouble of getting their specailly-priced LE upgrade for DR users, but only after they re-release it with 16-bit TIFF output, which we had to practically beat out of the P1 folks via email and their support forum (which is still buried with server timeouts, etc. from the load). If it doesn't fix my shadow clipping problems, then I'm likely to just switch to the ACR plugin in PS CS for the forseeable future, until/unless P1 finally gets their act together. I've already proven that the Canon FVU can properly develop the image, but of course that can't be right, because I don't have a calibrated monitor. :P

It's too bad, really. C1's a nice package, as far as useability goes. It's just that the P1 folks seemed to have a really strong 'not invented here' syndrome (or just plain arrogance, I'm not sure which), which causes them to assume that everyone except them are just hacks, and can be safely ignored, when it comes to color management and processing issues.

This particularly annoys me, since I worked for ten years in the machine vision industry, and could pick apart a video capture with both hands tied behind my back, and wearing a blindfold. :wink:

Curious, when I used to select the CAPTURE tab on the right side, it would show most of the exif info of the shot.
Now it shows Exposure Evaluation, Remaining Resources, and Camera Status. No Exif anywhere. Am I blind, or just stupid, or both? (Probably the latter).

Honestly I don't know where it went. I'm trying to see if it's now hidden somewhere, but I searched their support forum for "EXIF" and didn't find what I wanted. There was some vague reference in one thread to it being included in a future release, maybe October's. Wonder if they'll want us to pay for it...

Anyway, I'm hoping it will be back in next week's newly revised version of the new release. :wink:

That's good to know.
However, before this release, the Capture Tab did show all the exif information which was really nice.
And, the information shown beside the thumbnails lacks alot of information that used to be on the Capture Tab, like focus length.

There are alot of people complaining about this in the C1 Pro Forum, but still no reply from the author.

But Dris is right - a good portion of the EXIF is now missing, though it was there in the prior version. EC, flash, and focal length are key examples. Who cares about the "capture ID"? :roll:

Phase One is really eating a lot of crow following their marketing blunder this week. Looks like they want to get it past them, and have cut the price on the C1 v3.5 LE to SE upgrade to US/EU 99.
