I know this SLR camera is everywhere. I know SLR cameras are the ones that you have full control over just about everything, but what is SLR stand for?

Single Lens Reflex
Reflex refers to way it works:
Image is reflected to viewfinder using a mirror which blocks film path: when you press shutter release the mirror moves aside and reveals film/CCD.
See http://www.nikon.co.jp/main/eng/photo_world/kumon/05e.htm
This is the reason Oly E20 is not an SLR camera :)

You don't NEED multiple exposure with a digital camera! Since you are not tied down to one frame of film, you can take multiple photos and combine them in your image manipulation program (Photoshop or similar).
So, YES, you CAN do that with a D60, and more! :)
