ive been wracking my brain for a few days now trying to think up a good website name for my portrait, landscape and commercial photography website (that ive yet to build :D )
im hoping you guys could pitch in with a few options for me. i would very much like my initials (JJ) in there. something along JJphotography.co.uk or something like that.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated :D
thanks.

photosbyjj.co.uk is still available (.com is taken).
But really, as long as it's short and stays away from hyphens or weird spellings (like "fotos") you should be ok.

 I was gonna call myself 'fattipphotography.co.uk', named after my favourite graffiti font fat-tip, until a mate pointed out it could so very easily be mistaken for 'fat tit photography'... doh
Definitely worth asking for opinions on these matters!

Why not just go with jjmucker.com? Your business card and all materials will state that you're a photogapher.

not sure that would work mate. "mucker" is a slang glasgow term for , mate, pal, friend etc etc and i dont really want to be using a slang term in my photography. the reason i use it on here and many other forums etc is simply because ive used it for years and ive just stuck with it. :D
im sure i will get one eventually :D
i was thinking maybe even making up a splash screen as my index page on my wedding website with Portriat, Landscape, Events and Weddings. that way i dont need another domain name and just keep perfectexpressions.co.uk for all of them

Big mistake, jjmucker is a natural hook. How can you forget that name.
thats true mate but like i said, i dont really want a slang term as a domain name :D .
I will keep my options open though, theres been many names mentioned on here so far. it may sound as if im making a big deal here lol, but i guess you want a name that you can stick with for many many years eh

It really doesn't matter what your domain is called. Try calling it as your trading name.

i wanted jjphotography but thats taken. as i said i may just produce a splash screen on my wedding site and create a portrait, events, wedding option
that way i only have the one domain name for all 3

sounds good. if i decide to go with a completely different site than my wedding site then i want to incorporate "jj" into it somehow.
im just thinking that having my perfectexpressions site to cover all my photography might be a better bet.

Hi jj,
The problem is not getting a name you like it’s getting one that is not registered. I would keep it short as possible and use .co.uk I think it looks better. I use my middle initial if you have one it might be a thought.
I am also from Glasgow and you have prompted me to make my first post after many months on this site reading.
P.s. like you work.

cheers paul.
Im currently designing a splash screen for my index page where i will have "weddings" "portraits" "landscape" from there folk can choose which part of my site they want to go to. that way perfectexpressions.co.uk covers all my photography. will take me some time though as i will have to rearrange my whole site but i think it will be worth it in the long run.
i cant believe this is your first post and you signed up almost a year ago. :D
do you have yourself a website?

How about giving it a Scottish theme. For example: JJPhotos-alba.com

I like to take my time :)
I have only been serious with the photo thing for a couple of years after I got a 350D for my fortieth; I am starting an NQ at Read Kerr in August to learn how to do it a bit better.
My web addresses are www.PaulQMorrison.co.uk (http://www.paulqmorrison.co.uk/) and www.PQMServices.co.uk (http://www.pqmservices.co.uk/)
They should take you to the same page but as I run my pages from my own server in the house I am at the mercy of my internet provider so sometimes the links are down.
I have only one portfolio on it and it’s always an ongoing project so some of the links are not running yet, the portfolio is the one I used to get the college course. Hope you like it.

you have some nice images on there. if your serious and want to host a lot of images you should look at a hosting company rather than using your own connection. i looked at this too but like you say, if your connection goes down then no one can access your website.
you should take a look at the likes of Pbase, zenfolio, etc. they are not that expensive. or you can go down the route im taking and design your own site and host it with the likes of Godaddy.com or other hosting companys.
so your going fulltime with a photography cousre at reid kerr?
Thanks for the suggestion rhys. i will probably use my perfectexpressions site and simply expand it. seems a lot of work but i think it'll be worth it. :D
