Anyone has any news or rumours when will Canon come out a new DSLR?
Cos i'm thinking of buying the d10 in a 2-3 months time, and i do not want the same thing to happened again when i bought my Lens the other time.
That time after i bought my 70-300 at S$700+ they came out the IS version and the price of the lens without IS dropped drastically....haiz what a day....if you know what i meant :(
Thanks in advance

Just wait for Photokina (in September at Cologne). If Canon would release a new 10D, you have a 99% chance they will do it at Photokina !
Do keep in mind that you will have to wait some time after the release before it is in the stores ... and in the beginning, you will probably hav a list of orders again ...

In my experience, new dslr's haven't had a instant drastic effect on the price of old dslr's.
Through the introduction of the D60, 10D, and the MarkII I thought, "Great, the price of the old model will really come down. I'll be able to get a bargain" It did eventually, but because of the tight supply of the new model at the outset, it took almost 6 months from announcement, for the D30 and the D60, and the price of the MarkI actually went up when the MarkII was announced, because the MarkII was more expensive than anyone expected. Of course it also had higher specs than anyone expected.
My advice: don't worry about what is coming. Buy what serves your needs at the price you can afford, now. If you buy something and they announce something new and improved the next day, it'll be several months before the new thing is available and has all design and manufacturing kinks worked out of it, and you'd be without during that time. Going with a mature model has advantages too. It has fewer problems and everybody is familiar with the problems it does have. Being a pioneer is exciting, but it doesn't always pay the bills.

For what it's worth...

"Nothing is more frustrating than watching your newly-purchased consumer electronics product get replaced a month after you bought it. That happened to me a month ago, when Canon announced the new EOS-10D Digital SLR ($1499 street price), which replaced the EOS-D60 that I had just bought for more money."
So I'm going to be patient. 8)

Those in the constant computer upgrade loop will know that whatever and whenever you buy, there will always be another better and cheaper product for the same task just around the corner. The thing is, soon after the next camera is released, people already start reading the rumors about the next one and all the perceived flaws it might fix, and again postpone their purchase. In the meantime, people who have purchased the camera are happily shooting away.
What I'm trying to say is, if you feel the model now available is suitable for your needs (in terms of performance, price and any other parameters you might have), go for it. I would probably think twice just before Photokina or another event where new models are likely to be announced, but now it's almost four months to that event and then several months before the cameras announced there will actually be available. Buying the camera available now means you will have had 6 months to shoot before you could get your hands on the new model.
Just my take,

Thanks for all the information that u all provided me! :)
Got a question....
Do u all think the 6.3m pixel for d10 is too little?
What i meant is that even now consumer digital camera is going at 5m to 8m pixel.....
Don't you all think that , in terms of the pixel, it's kind of short changed? maybe it's my personal feeling.....
Hope you all can enlighten me and discuss about it. :)

for the size sensor, it's way more than adequate. to be honest, it really depends on how big you're going to print. otherwise, if you are looking to have more headroom to crop, then i suggest practice makes for better framing. remember this is a dslr, so you simply get the lenses you need. the consumer oriented p&s w/ 8mp are good for what they are being used for. take photos. crop the good bits. print it at home (or at the photo shop).
personally, i've had lots of 20x30's (poster), 12x18's, a4's etc. made from the 10d for parents (of the kids playing rugby). the 6mp has been plenty. i don't think i'd go over poster size without blockiness.
now if the 'new 10d' has the 1dmk2 sized sensor, then yes i'd definitely expect more mp.
also remember that you can shoot raw - with no jpeg compression. from this, you can export completely lossless images (.tif, etc.) and print from those. that in itself is worth more than the generic 'megapixel size' rating.

B&H has reduced their price on the 10D:

Chances are good that is to reduce their inventory in preparation for the replacement. The big dealers are doing this more and more lately. I'm sure they are getting whispers from Canon so they don't get stuck with a bin full of 'old' cameras when the one that replaces it comes out. The Photokina timeframe has been knocked about quite a bit, and there has been some chatter about the 10D replacement coming in June. I don't know, but its safe to say the replacement is coming.
Have Fun,

The 10D will still produce a better quality image than a consumer 8mp camera.
THe reason for this is the size of the sensor itself. Because the sensor in the 10D is that much larger that the sensor in a consumer p/s camera then you get a better quality image. Couple that with the fact that the 10D handles noise far better than the p/s camera (partly because of the sensor size) then I don't feel even slightly short changed.
THere are lots of technical reasons why the 10D sensor being larger than p/s sensors is better. I don't know any of it off the top of my head because I don't need to - but I am sure those who do would be happy to post :)
