Tips for shooting Carnival in the evening?

Anybody have tips on shooting Carnival parade in the evening?

Fast lens (f/2.8 or faster), high ISO (800 or even 1600), a lot of memory storage and fresh batteries available. And don't forget to check that histogram, it's the most valuable tool while shooting under "exotic" lighting conditions ...

Sure if they are good enough. Tomorrow I will shoot the parade in daytime. Hopefully the sun will shine 8)

I hope for you that the sun WILL NOT shine, that there will be cloudy day that is - you can acheive much better photographs with that kinds of lighting ...

As You can see from my thread with photos from the Carnival I did not get any of the evening parade because even though I had been home to empty my cards one time they filled up before the evening parade started and at that time my batteries ran out too. But I did get around 700 photos which I am going through now to post on my website.

Nice shots. You may want to apply some cropping on a few of them. There were a few that are screaming out to have a nice tight face/feather crop applied. I'm not sure if you are going to use these for anything (beyond personal enjoyment), but you may want to try and get less of the commercial background items in frame (Burgerking/McD's etc). Getting permission from some of these companies is a pain. My only other comment would be to decrease depth of field on some of these type shots, but that is really a personal pref item.

Shoot some long exposure shots! They are fun, like a second or
two shutter speed. Also, do some second curtain shots at slower
shutters.... It's nice for a change then just shooting FAST at a
fast iso.....
