You can see my lens collection in my sig... two lenses. LOL

I'm in the market for another lens, but I have no idea which one. I want something that can zoom before and after my 50mm prime, mainly for portrait work and group shots etc. Ya know, "event" type things.

I have looked at thousands of wide angle lenses which range from $100 to $1000...

My budget is "around" $300, give or take $100, maybe more if it is REALLY worth it. Can ya give me some recomendations for a lens in this catagory that many consider "best bang for your buck"?

Give me some recomendations so I can research 'em. There are so many lenses from all brands I'm having a hard time picking one.

Thank you for any help.

Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is an Awesome lens but costs slightly more than $400.
Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, but remember the crop factor of 1.6 on your camera if the wide angle is important.

There is the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS and the EF-s 17-85 f4-5.6IS although the later is over your stated price range and the 28-135 is at the top of it.

What do you guys think of the Sigma 20-40mm f/2.8 EX? Not much more than the Sigma 17-70mmf2.8-4.

Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 Macro, Tamron 17-50mm 2.8, Sigma 17-70mm should all do the job, tho' for your use I would go for a 2.8 if you can.

Yeah faster lens would be ideal, some of these places have big wood ceilings that are hard to bounce any light from so I need a fast lens to get a decent shot. My 50mm 1.4 has worked well for this but I need something wide.
