Hi, I'm new to this thread and have searched for an answer to my problem, but to no avail. I hope someone can help.
I have a Canon S70 and when I turn it on the lens automatically zooms all of the way in and the rest of the control buttons wont work. The problem sometimes fixes itself. Any clues?
Thanks

if it's a random problem, it means it's a real problem...
some canon cameras have a "custom" dial setting, in which you can preset whatever you want, and then if you turn your camera on, and then use the C dial, the camera will "remember" the whole setup you saved in the past, and be ready for action. In fact, in the s3 model, that shooting mode even remembers the zoom factor...
so, if the problem is random, make sure you're shooting in auto mode... once again, i've no idea if your camera has this setting, but just to make sure, set the camera to auto mode...
and then again, if the problem is random, i doesn't mean the camera has not a fault. Has some liquid fallen on the camera?, did it get wet sometime?. Maybe there is something wrong with the contacts inside... I'd call Canon Support
Cheers.
