When we scanned through the jpgs marking them for the slideshow we got to the end and found we had 100+ pics, heres a few more we flagged for the slideshow and processed through Showit Effects, last pic is another for our collection of shots where guests are watching our showit web show which always gets a great reception.

Polite C&C welcome, earlier ones in this thread > http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=335627

I love the photos! Very nice!

In that last shot - did you set up a ShowitWeb Slideshow for the guests?

Yup, we always do that if were booked to stay till after the wedding breakfast, takes very little time to throw the show together once you have used it a couple of times. Thing that takes the longest is picking the photos out but now weve done 5 weddings we have gotten much quicker with that now, so much so we even run them all through showit effects now as well before doing the show. Today was still pretty tight for time though because we had 25 prints to do for the bride and groom and also the first time we had made up our mini album for them on the day, previously we gave them 6 loose prints now we give them a nice little 10 side 6x4 album and it went down very well as they didnt expect that .. great for taking away on honeymoon :)

Ta for the nice comments, 1, 2 and 4, 5 and 8 in this thread were my fave shots of the day .... least till I look through em properly they are http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=335627

8 Was funny because we were meant to be in front of the car but the trafic hell meant we got a couple of cool shots we wouldnt have otherwise had .... better to be lucky than good. :)

Oh wow! Thanks for the info Banbert!

How do you print them for the morning after? Do you guys carry a printer w/ you to weddings?

We give them the album there and then, in fact the last shot in todays album was taken 30 minutes prior to us giving them it. We have a couple (1 in use, 1 backup) of little selphy CP710 printers that print 6 x 4 postcard prints using dye sub process which means the prints are very robust. Ive worked out it costs us about 20p per print and the little album is very cost effective so we give them something that costs us less than £10 but means a lot more to them than that, prior to this wedding we gave 6 lose prints but everyone will get little albums now we have found a good cost effective supplier.

From day one we had the idea that giving the B&G some prints on the day would go down well and so we advertised "6 prints on th day" as part of our standard package and it went down very well .. now everyone thats booked will find they get mini albums instead so I am sure that will go down well.

Banbert, thanks for the info. I like the idea!

Any more tips of the trade for us getting started in the buisness?

I see #6 is not among your favorites.
Here is a trick I learn from another forum that can make that particular image more appealing to viewer:

Were just really getting started ourselves but I am happy to share what we have found. This wedding yesterday was actually the first ever wedding we booked so it was nice to actually shoot it and feel like we did them justice because they had a lot of faith in us when they booked us because we had very little to show them back then. First wedding (same as most of our bookings so far) was a triumph of SEO as they just googled for a local photographer.

Thanks very much samsen thats a very nice idea for an edit, we will deffo give that a try ! thanks again.

Gotta say that we had more useable shots of the first dance for this one than we have the couple of dances we have shot so far, the videographer had 2 cameras with video lights going and boy did it make shooting easy .. switched our flashes off when we saw what they were like :)

Cheers guys

Last weeks wedding was a short day compared to this weeks which was a long day and very hectic ... Hairdressers > Dept Store (for makeup) > Brides Mums House > Service Venue > Reception venue meant a lot of moving about combined with rain and lots to do when we got to the reception made it challenging but in a great way because we have so many great shot opportunities.

First double header next weekend + trying to sort out our house sale and new house purchase this week means a nice challenging week ahead ..... loving it though ! :)

Love the photos Nick - and a vintage Rolls always seems to make a UK wedding complete somehow ...although having 2 Rollers is a bit greedy :)

I have no right to judge as we're only in our second year - but personally I think you've come a long way - you're doing great work ...and my only real concern for you is whether you'll be able to capitalise on this, raise your prices and turn a profit?

[Samsen, that's a great edit - we will definitely 'borrow' that idea!]

Yup they havent been balanced at all yet, just JPG's from the camera with an action run on em then bordered for the blog, we go back to the raws for the customer proofs, we shoot raw + small jpgs so we can give the client a slideshow and some shots on the day.

Cheers matey appreciate your comments and give that your in your second year I value your comments a lot, were still in our first !

I hear what your saying about the prices and thats where my mind is at currently, we keep nudging them up as we get a few more bookings and have just upped them again yesterday as we have more bookings this year already than we intended to shoot and next year is already filling up fast .... be interesting to see how this current price hike hits our enquiries and also our conversion ratio, since starting up our conversion from enquiry to booking has been insane, out of 40+ weve not booked about 5 so far.... i expect that will drop off quite a bit as we get level with other photographers prices.

If we see them drop completely we will put our adwords spend up again I think and see what effect that has, the last couple of months we have knocked it down to virtually nothing (less than 50p for the last 2 months total spend) but still got enquiries so theres an option for us there. Also hoping to do the same wedding fayre later this year that we did at the start of this year as that got us a nice number of local bookings this year.
