Any one else have this problem?

I think my A620 may have turned on in its case. That is it tried to extend the lens while it was in the case. Now when ever I turn it on or off I get a faint clicking or chattering sound when the lens extends. It appears to be working fine but I use this as my backpacking camera and I would hate to have it fail 10 miles into the woods.

Anyway is it a problem, I mean I can't even remember if the sound was there when it was new but I don't think so?

Help

It'd have to be fairly loud to be audible over the motor whine of my A620,but I don't hear it. Can't promise it will or won't fail, but even if that isn't a problem there are loads of ways your camera could let you down when least opportune. If you're seriously worried either send it to Canon for a look-see or upgrade to something else.

Thanks Jon. It's just the slightest tick. The camera is working just fine it just has me nervous. And your right there are many other ways a camera can leave you in the dark.
I just noticed that it's only when the lens retracts not extends, and when you zoom out not zoom in. Interesting anyway.

I've had this happen in the past (turning on in the case) and have found that if I store the camera with the mode switch turned to 'playback' instead of 'camera', this will allow the camera to turn on in the case (accidently) while preventing the lens from being extended or atempting to if the camera is turned on.
