A few friends of mine asked me to take some engagement pictures for them. Of course it decided to rain every couple of hours for the past few days so we waited for whatever window we could get then give it a shot. I had to hold an umbrella with one hand then shoot with the other so they aren't as sharp as I would have liked them to be. We're likely going to go back out on a less rainy day next week. I used a Canon 28-135 lens and a 580ex flash on some of the shots. Let me know what you think.

hi there - cute kids, great on the exposure, just a tad bit heavy on the vignette. great pics though!

I like 2, 4, and 7, because they look most natural and show a connection between the couple. The all look very soft, but that could be the web compression.

Agreed. I'm not sure if its the web compression, but they all look soft....

Thanks for the responses.

I softened them some. Too much maybe?

Yeah, I've been playing with the vignetting... possibly a bit much on that too...

When you soften you can't really soften eyes or hair.

Yup agree with others, too much vignetting and too soft.
The shots have a slight greenish tint on my monitor.
I know you have a 28-135IS but try to blur out the background a bit more.
Watch your shutter speed as the hand on the last shot is blurred from movement.
Also make sure that the diamond on the ring is straight with the finger and that it's well visible.
Use the flash or do it digitally to pop the eyes.
Watch the background, on the 4th shot there is a pole sticking out between the couple.
Unless she objects, clone out the mole on the girls neck.

How about these. Didn't soften them, actually sharpened them a little and just adjusted the color some... Also took the mole off her neck.
