How to use subfolders for thumbs/microthumbs? I need help!

I decided to have my pics in folders ordered by years but how do I manage do get the thumbs and microthumbs stored in folders thumbs/2004 or microthumbs/2004, the same for the other years? Right now all thumbs and microthumbs are stored in the main thumbs and microthumbs folder automatically also those folders exists and I have set the paths.

No one using subfolders for thumbs and microthumbs? Will be there a problem if all thumbs or microthumbs are stored in the main tnumbs or microthumbs folder? Right now I have about 2.000 pics to be stored but it will grow. What will happen if the folder limit will be reached? I would prefer to store also the thums and microthumbs in subfolders named after years.

thumbs of pics from 2002 in thumbs/2002
thumbs of pics from 2003 in thumbs/2003
and so on

I have my photos my location, which is similiar to what you want.

So I create path, Size Path, Thumb Path and Microthumb path per location, or in your case per year.

You can specify whatever directoy you want

So it should be somthing like.

e.g. 2002

photo/2002/normal
photo/2002/thumb
photo/2002/microthumb

To create the subfolders ist not the problem but how can I make sure that the right subfolder is used for thumbs and mircothumbs? Although I created the folders and inserted them in the path section of EE all thumbs/microthumbs are still stored in the main thumbs or microthumbs folder. Maybe I missed something but is there a way to select the location for thumbs/microthumbs when Uploading the pics? It seems only possible for the normal pics...

I think I know,

Under: "edit exhibition data"

Select your exhibition.

Then pick the appropriate thumb and microthumb directory from the right .

and then save.

That should do it.

What version of EE are you using?

In 1.5 all paths are created (if needed) by ftp when upload is issued. Each exhibition can use only one thumb and only one microthumb path. Those are selected in exhibition editor as photocroatia explained. You must save the correct ones before the first upload to an exhibition because the upload page uses that info (it is not selected in upload page but determined by chosen exhibition).

This means also that after you have uploaded photos to an exhibition you should not change thumb paths in exhibition editor. If you do so yo'll need either to move the files to new paths manually or use rethumbail command.
