These birds are as thick as flies at my mom's...and not very wary of people either.

What you do? Bring your 5D and lenses to your Mom's? Nice shot of the flapping.

Very nice shots Maureen. It's nice to see different hummers. What kind is this?

These are Anna's Hummingbirds. These females are larger than the males and have different coloring.
Now here is another variety...the Black Chinned Hummingbird.

Great shots Maureen! I just put my hummer feeders up yesterday, no sign of the little buggers yet though.

Thick as flies. Hmmm. We get one species of hummer here in the east and they aren't showing their faces right now. By the way, where in Central California? We'll be vacationing in Monterey for a week next month and plan on hitting Elkhorn Slough. Then it is on to Yosemite.

Before I forget, darn nice images you got there as well Maureen.

There were at least 8 hummers living in my mom's backyard....they were all over the place and came very close to us without any fear. It was fun!

I live about 2 hours south west of Yosemite, near Fresno.
