Very nice images Canonada. I particularly like the pose in #1. He looks ready to pounce on something!:)

Joe nicely done, I recently found a spot where I saw one of these and I have been trying but I cant get close enough (all I have is a 70-200) but have not given up yet.

Thanks very much Sindri

Thanks Cooper, the 300mm 2.8 is new to me and I find the bg bokeh quite different.
Very nice images Canonada. I particularly like the pose in #1. He looks ready to pounce on something!
I think he was keeping a eye on the water below and he moved from the position in #2 to a lower position to get a closer look.
Good work Joe;
I've yet to see these herons at Mud Lake.
Thanks Ted, We saw them in two locations on Sunday. First, to the left from the first lookout and second directly infront of the boardwalk/bridge at the back.

Thanks Kon, I have seen and shot them twice now. The first was at Ile de La Visitation on the north side of Montreal Island. They were so close to the path and a cafe that your 70-200 would have been just fine. Yesterday, they were not close and I needed all of my 300mm and 1.4TC.
Nice set Joe, he looks like he's sneaking up on something in #1.
Thanks very much Mitch, he may have been thinking of sneaking up on something but he flew off a little while later.

Joe

An interesting pose in that first shot. Saw a Black-crowned heron overhead late today.
