Shot the Boxing after Dark card for HBO last night at the Mohegan Sun Arena. I was glad I was given this bout on my HBO schedule as I've been shooting Paulie Malignaggi for the last five years, from young prospect to fringe contender, to his first title challenge last year, which ended in a loss to Miguel Cotto (his only loss) to his comeback fights and now the capturing of his 1st World Championship. The pure emotion and joy shown in the ring by those around him was a tremendous moment and a pleasure to capture.

Great eye, Ed ~ there is so much going on in your images other than typical "action" shots. The ring is filled w/emotion, but the trick is knowing what to capture ~ you have one of the best "eyes" in the sport.
Really feel you re paulie ~ I'm hopeful the Peterson brothers can get in done in similar fashion [followed them since the 2004 trials]
Hopefully Lamont will not have to face Malignaggi @ jr. welter.

I am, as always when I look at your images, as much impressed by the non-hit and back stage style shots as by the impeccable timing of your face mashers and sweat-storm captures! That 'dog pile' shot is mind blowing and I'm not sure had I been shoulder to shoulder with you that I would have even "seen" it, let alone had the presence of mind to shoot it. I am hoping to follow Ann Wolfe's James Kirkland as he moves forward over the next couple of years.

Thanks Dwight, I was very happy with the "dog-pile" shot as you put it...happened to be on the right side of the ring for that one...so much goes on around the ring at a fight, but most people are so focused on strictly the action, that good images are missed or not attempted at all...(I'm sure you would have gotten the pile up though) Thanks again.

Ed, your images help my envelope grow, getting me outside the box a little bit and I appreciate it. Now if you could just come spend a couple of weeks helping me get organized I'd be all set! :-)
