i use the thunderbolt reader. just as big as a cf card, only a little thicker...plus a usb plug that rotates out.
it's what I travel with and have never had a problem.

I use a couple of Crucial card readers (keep one in my bag and one on my desk). Had to buy the newest one since a client of mine has a new camcorder that uses SD HC cards and my older reader doesn't read the HC cards.
I have the two top ones in this link,

I use a Sandisk 12-in-1. Picked it up from BHPhoto for about $30.

I use this one in my laptop, also from BHPhoto.

As long as you don't mind waiting for it to ship from HongKong...

I bought my $5 CF and $3 SD card readers from here. Took around 2 weeks to ship to Canada.

Don't skimp on a card reader. I bought a GE because it was $5 cheaper than a SanDisk. Then later had to buy a SanDisk because the GE was sssssssllllllooooooowwwwwwww!!!!!!!

You have to make sure that if it is USB, that it is USB 2.0. There are still a lot of USB 1.0 readers out there and they are as in2Photos says, very Sloooooooow! Do your homework.

There are loads of card readers out there for $10ish. I've had more than a few of them.
And, they all break.
Spend the $30 it takes to get a decent Sandisk reader or something like that as at least you won't be buying a new one 3 weeks down the road because on of the slots stopped working.

very true. you MUST look for usb 2.0 and have a usb 2.0 connection in your computer to get the speeds you want

I just got a sandisk extreme card reader. They go for about $20. Definitely worth the money, especially if you have a sandisk extreme cf card. Fast and small.

Fastest is the new Firewire Sandisk Extreme... rated up to 40MB/s for their new 266x cards.
Not only rated... but actually tests near there.

Actually it says Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and was still slow. So as I said don't buy a cheap one.
