16 Jun Wedding - 8 images (C&C welcome)

Stacey and Justin Dalton. I have been looking forward to this wedding since they signed in Feb. And, true to my expectations, it was a great time. Stacey was cool, calm and collected. She had a schedule of events for the day, identifying where and when she wanted things done. The schedule covered more than 12 hours. There were only two deviations from the schedule - she arrived at the church 1/2 hour EARLY and, at the reception, she changed out of her gown 10 minutes late. AND, she did all this without being a control freak - it was truely a joy to work with her! I can only hope to work with more people like her and her family!


1. This is the first time I have had an opportunity to create a shot like this. All my other "dressing locations" have been less than optimal for a gown photograph. I kinda like this.

2. Jus the guys, B&W. I have this in color (obviously), but I like this one much better for some reason.

6. The chapel - This is on Langley Air Force Base. The chapel is "original" construction, minimal AC (we were thankful for a very cool weekend!) and pretty much dark as a cave!. But, gorgeous!

I really like that dress shot: very good lighting and we can clearly see all the details!

For the groomsmen picture, I wish you had taken the photo from a lower angle. It would give it that "mafia" look and remove a bit of the distractions in the background.

For the bridesmaid shot, try not to hide any bridesmaid behind the bride. You had plenty of room to play with here, so make sure that we can clearly see everyone! Also, I'm not fond of the bride being square with the camera. It's not as flattering although I find it passes in this shot. I just wish the cropping wasn't as tight.

You may try to warm up the church picture. It's missing that cozy feeling ;)

I love that one of her smiling to the camera. Nice colors.

#1 the dress shot is amazing. Love the light coming through it.
#5 the shot is good, but IMO cropped to tightly. Watch the use of any lens on the wide side when doing group shots. Necesssary, but sometimes it breaks the rule of thirds and makes the shot incomplete.
The skin tones on the last 2 on my laptop monitor are slightly off, but it could be from the lighting at the chapel. Glad you had fun.

Personally, I love #5. I think it really is about the bride, with her bridesmaids backing her up. Just like it. I agree with the previous poster though, #7 and #8 the skin seems a bit reddish. Good stuff though.

Great shots!

1. One of the better dress shots I have seen. I love the B&W conversion.
2. Nice setup. The guy in the front (the groom)'s face looks a little hot.
3. Interesting, but I don't like the composition. It seems like you're trying to center it, but the one guy's leg makes it odd. Nice idea though.
4. Nice - red carpet and everything eh?
5. Really nice composition and pose. Great job on getting all the detail in the bride's dress!
6. Pretty standard imo. Did you try a B&W conversion on it? It may look nice.
7. Love the emotion in this shot! Even the priest is giggling!
8. Nice, but the flash is very evident.

All in all, great shots!

Some nice shots and good exposure! Nice job. One thing I noticed is every shot is taken from the same standing position. vary the angles a bit more and it'll give a much more dynamic look to the whole day!

These have been some very astute comments - something I can really sink my teeth into. A few of these errors I can fix in post, but most I will have to take with me to the next one. I really appreciate the time and effort put into looking and commenting.
sblais - I didn't even consider the point of your comment on #5 while I was putting this one together. Something more to put into my tool box. Thanks.

bcap - your comments are right on the money.
getabetterpic - I didn't notice the skin tones until I read your post. I'm usually pretty anal about that, but I really missed in those. I'll have to look at the rest of that "series" to make sure that they are all corrected (to the extent they can be).
