Hi All,
This is my first post here in the business forum. After reading the wicked sticky http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=61210 it gave me a lot of information and things to think about. I'm no where near to being a pro, but would love the opportunity to get into selling my photos. As a quick test, I put up my good photos on flickr - nowhere near as marketable as having my own website or custom setup where the public can view them. I was surprised to see an email today from a worker at an online 'newszine' asking to use several of my photos (for free) for a new piece.
I'm looking for some guidance on what to ask for compensation for my photos. I've yet to determine the traffic/subscription count, duration, photo size they want to use. I wanted to ask you all first if this type of news organization typically is out to pay for photos? There is an ad that says they pay for article submissions so I thought, "hey, they can pay for my photo if they really want to use it!".
Here's a quick article describing the company. It looks like more of a company that builds on collaberation, links and building on newsfeeds from bigger organizations.

Any help, feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Ken
