okay... I'm kinda stuck in the middle of coming up with a design for a business card....just in case
http://www.cmuntean.net/images/bcard.jpg
that's what I came up with so far.
Is it ok , which one is better, how can I improve? If you want to, post your business card too, might give me a better idea.

I'd go with the top one, maybe add a photo of a camera to the upper left corner.

You need more contact information.
Here's mine that I've also had made into a stamp for the backside of photos.

Well I don't really plan on doing any business by phone. I can be contacted through my website, by e-mail. Also, I want to keep the design as simple as possible. As a matter of fact, I wanted to exclude the title as well, but I think that's necessary when people look at my card and remember that I was the guy with the camera.

Check out Vistaprints.com (http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/ns/bcfree.aspx)

In the past 3 months I have purchased 1250 business cards from them. The last order was for 1000 and I think with shipping the total was less than $15.00

You can use their templates and add photos or move text around but, of course that costs a little more.

I like the first one. Its simple and lets people know who you are and what you do and how to get in touch with you. The suggestion of a small camera in the upper left corner could be beneficial as stated. It seems business cards in general today have so much information on them that they seem cluttered. Ah, :D simplicity!!

Both "Freelance photographer" and a camera icon would say the same thing. No need to duplicate it...

Not sure about the lack of email address though. Also the web site address is not fully complete lacking both http:// and www.

I like the layout of the second one, but you need to decrease the stroke of the line, and increase the font size of the name (similar to the first).

You may not even need the line... Let the font size keep name, title, and address seperated... (like 24 point for name, 18 for title, and 10 or 12 for address info...)

Ah, :D simplicity!!
My point exactly
I did go with the first one after all.
I didn't order prints, I just bought some nice business card paper (not the perforated crap) and printed them out on my i960. It looks okay.
Thanks for the input.

and my website can be accessed without the www. in front of it. I think people would generally know that "cmuntean.net" is a web address... I think.... I hope

The reason I went with the full contact info was to attract locals. Also, not everyone has internet yet let alone a computer. There is an older crowd out there that hasn't taken that step and they make up a big part of our population. Phones are very convenient for people still.
Limiting the amount of contact info you print also reduces your amount of customers. It's all about marketing yourself. It is your choice however and if you are happy with it, that's all that counts.

Well, the lack of access to my website will lead to the impossibility of doing business alltogether. (at least for now). That's why I did not put any more contact information than strictly necessary. If I will ever do business by phone, i will surely add the number onto my card.
