Awesome picture... when you say 5 stops of GND, what do you mean? Did you stack several GND filters?

Thanks for the comments.
wonny - yes, I stacked a 3-stop and 2-stop filter to compensate for the sky's brightness. :-)

Geez this is gorgeous! I need to learn about those filters someday... I'm going to be in OC this weekend... Where in Laguna did you shoot this? If I have time, maybe I can hop down there for a bit. I'd love to shoot my girls on these rocks.... Care to share?

Thanks, Kristy! This was taken in the area right below Heisler Park. There are stairs that would normally take you straight down to this rocky area. However, when I was there - they were closed. So you may have to go to the northern end of Heisler Park and take the next set of stairs/ramp down to the beach and then hike south to this area.
The rocks make for some great foreground material! :-)

Nice image... Love all the subtle violets and the u shaped scoop that you didn't let creep outta frame. This is an image that you can look at and keep finding things in but at the same time the composition is not busy at all.
Thanks for posting it.

I like this shot Stephen! Another keeper in my eyes. I love the colors here and I wouldn't change a thing. You better print this! =)

okay... so I'm not making it there tonight, darn it... but I plan to go tomorrow after my photoshoot... :) Hopefully I can find it. I've been down to the Heisler Park area before, so it shouldn't be that difficult. I don't remember these rocks though... I'm thinking of heading out around 5:30 or so and that will give me time to hike around a bit to pick a few spots that I like...

Thanks again!

Go up around Lake Pleasant or Sauro Lake.. you'll find something pretty to shoot there if you hike around a bit... :)

There's a neverending amount of places to shoot here, been here 25 years, haven't even scratched the surface. ;) I'll be up at Pleasant and in Crown King this weekend - hopefully I can get some good stuff.

Awesome job - 5 stops of gnd was just about right here. The colors that came out are crazy!
