My new S3 makes a very faint but very audible sound when it is in shooting mode. I think it's tied to the autofocus but I'm not sure. It's a series of several short, soft electronic beeps. Is this normal? Can I do anything about it? It's driving me nuts.:-x

Incidentally, this is my second S3 - the first one had to be returned because of a faulty sensor.:sad:

Mine does it form day 1, I have it about 8 months.

But the sound is very very faint. When not moving the sound is like a small spinning wheel, and when I move it there comes a series of beeps.

Hi fellow Husker. I just took my S2 in after 18 months on a dead CCD.

That's it exactly. Did you ever find out if there was anything you could do about it?

You can go to the tools menu and set "Mute" to "Yes" and all the auto focus sounds will cease.

Atleast in S2 you can turn the soud off : setup-menu > mute

I use the sound alll the time,but it is personal choice.
