A nice quiet day shooting the testing over at Silverstone today, it makes a change being able to explore a circuit, not worrying about deadlines or anything.
I decided to just play about and shy away from the regular journalistic shots and go for something a bit artier.
All comments welcome! (Expects barrage from the anti-tilt brigade lol)
Webber storms down towards Bridge.

So do you tilt the camera or is it how you crop the picture? I always see pics like that in motorcycle mags and wondered if it was the way they crop the pics or the way they held the camera.

You'll find most photographers pan their cameras at an angle. It's very easy, and something different. Something I always do in drift photography, as the drivers like them more. . But can be overused.
Great photos Pete. Well done, nice, clear and unique

Great shots Pete! I particularly like #3.
I didn't realise there were so many hills at Silverstone, it was pretty flat the last time I drove round it! ;o)

Pictures nice and clean. But as its a flat track why not keep it that way, then we would see much more of the car and thats what you are taking pictures of.

Cheers for the comments, gents!
I'll be honest, I did take some regular photos, but they just failed to interest me, they came across as a bit generic and with Silverstone looking so cold and barren I decided to go with the arty shots lol

Nicely taken shots, but I'm not a tilt fan myself, I find having to tilt my head to view the cars a pain in the neck

Cheers again!
I shoot for an international picture agency who sort the accreditation for me, but yea, it is pretty tough to get FIA accreditation.
They were all shot with a 1D MkIIn with a 300mm f2.8 L IS, sometimes with a 1.4TC attached.

cool, what sort of restrictions do they place on you? do FIA Accedited photogs get more access?

All accredited photographers are free to roam the circuit, so pretty much wherever the marshalls are and the whole paddock and pitlane. Only downside is the disclaimer we have to sign regarding injury or death as most of the time you've only got a 3ft high concrete wall and some tyres between you and the cars. But we do get lovely clear views, free from fences.
There aren't really many restrictions, obviously you can't stand anywhere stupid, but it's mainly common sense stuff.

Lovely shots - I am very envious of the press pass :-)
I can't get the exif on these shots - any chance you post the data for the Webber shot (#1) - that look stunning
oh and I am very pro tilt - just look at my posts....ahem.
