Middlebury, Vt. still has wooded trails that meander down to fishing holes at sunrise. Even in the blue shift of first light the hard scrabble brush seems romantically nostalgic. And the stark grit of big city snarl feels as far away as... it is.

Nice shot, it's good to see some unspoilt natural beauty.

Ah yesssss..... "Unspoilt" says it so well. Actually a hundred and fifty years or more ago, I suspect that this area was quite "spoilt" - but when the textiles moved south, lots of farming moved west, when they ran out of first growth trees for pulp, and the marble factory closed... Things returned to "unspoilt."
Nice shot Ted, well exposed.

I even like the blue cast of the morning sun. I know that folks bleed it out, but it's a shift that makes everything so clean. Izzit just me?

Ted, you really imbue your posts with "something." It's never just a "here's a sunrise pic in vermont." Your prose really inject a sense of creativity into a shot I may have otherwise overlooked. Beautiful composition. What's the building in the background? Love the first light of morning as well. ;)

Thanks Og, the illio actually drives me as much as the image itself. As for the building, it is a covered bridge... the real thing. With the snows of Vermont... they need to be able to cross the rivers, and they always lacked the manpower to do this sort of daily annoying shoveling. Here's the front of the bridge and the sign above it....
