Thanks for all your input on the hostile parents question. Just one more thing. Some parents who aren't hostile have made comments about how they felt uncomfortable because they didn't know who I was. Mind you, I have been at this same field 2/3 times a week for several weeks. The personnel at the league know me, some of the parents know me from my real job, and at least one of the regular umpires is a friend of mine. Parents have suggested that if I had a tee shirt that said "Miller's Photography" or a "Photographer License" that would somehow make me legitimate. Do pervs and pedophiles normally take pictures of kids and then come back to sell them to their parents? Can pervs not afford tee shirts? Are all parents this naive and paraniod?

I knew a guy in basic training who said, "You know, I really like the Army because there's always someone around to tell me what to do"? :)

jmiller....in a word "YES". It is sad, but a true reflection of the state of our society.

My wife and I shoot Horse events that often include new riders (many young girls). All of the regulars and officials know us well. We are known for our candid shots.

If I shoot a "new girl" I always hand them and their parent a business card explaining how to view our shots. I started this practice when an irate father wanted to know what and who I was. A couple of sentences and the guy melted into a prime customer.

Being a mother and realizing how concerned parents are in today's society I elected to have some shirts made up for shooting events, specifically where children are involved. I also carry ample business cards with the URL where parents can view the shots printed on a sticker on the back of the card, including the password required for gallery access. I always make a point to talk to some of the parents and it doesn't take long for them to tell the other parents, you can hear them chatting amongst themselves.
