Colors for new site

Ok, in some previous posts I have seen that black is out dated. I started to create one using some oranges and blue. I like how they blend, but like always after an hour creating I get bored with the colors and design.

I started to look at other sites and found a lot of boring black/silver/grey/ blah color schemes. What are some good color combinations for websites? Not wishing to do what everyone else is doing. This is for a motorsports site.

I'm terrible at design myself, and being a bit colour blind doesn't help much either.

Thank you. I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a new color scheme for my dad's business website. This will help.
