Don't know if this has been discussed before, but is there any way I can salvage the image?

I shot 155 raw+jpegs on a Sandisk Ultra II 1GB CF in my 10D, used ZB to successfully download all with the exception of one image - ZB just 'skipped' it.

Opening the 'G:\' drive in Windows XP explorer, I tried to copy it to the destination folder, and got the message
'Error Copying File of Folder [red&white X symbol] Cannot copy CRW_2488: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error [OK button]'

Clicking 'OK' brought up another 'Error':
'psCException developing image: 0x7000027cdFILE_READ_ERROR'

The image was viewable in BreezeBrowser MainView but attempting to convert the RAW file produced the message
'Convert RAW Files' 'Error converting G:\DCIM\ 124CANON\CRW_2488.CRW psCExcetion = 0x7000027'

Connecting the 10D itself produced an Error code 'Err 02' on the 10D's top LCD for which the 10D's manual's suggested countermeasure (p171CT1-1241-001 2003 edition) is 'There is a problem wiht the CF card. Do one of the followin: Remove and reloadthe CF car, format the CF card, or use another CF card'.

Any suggestions anyone?

There are several flavors of 'image rescue' software available, from free to shrink-wrapped. Check the favorite links stickies on this forum. They may or may not be the answer, but retrieving otherwise unavailable images is what they do.

One version is packaged with the Sandisk Extreme cards. If you can't find one to download, you may want to consider it. Lexar has their own version, but some postings on this forum suggest that Lexar's will only work on a Lexar card. I don't know if that is true, but you might want to check that out before buying the Lexar version.

Hope this helps.

I was headed down that path (in my response), but the potential for the thread heading off into the wild blue yonder kept me from clicking 'submit'...
