for those interested in this effect I used 'brush strokes' lightly (psp 9)
won't be everyone's cup of tea......
( the lady was having a coffee... )

That technique looks interesting from a distance, except that she seems to have a black eye, so I'm wondering if there might be some Irish in that cup? :D

I think the effect is a little too strong, I like where you were going with it but it's stripped away ALL of the details. Are you able to lower the effect a bit and preserve some of the details?

funny you should say that
( & I agree with all you say)
I always look at the pictures from a distance after I do them
you know what I mean..... and this one was better from the door:lol:
but I left it as it was after I posted that I saw the effect much better
would have removed it and done some changes only I could'nt delete the post myself. I would have took it off
otherwise I liked it but kindof lay awake thinking I should have removed some of the black in parts. and the 'hairy chin' effect
the 'black' eye seems to come in a lot. must be the dip in the face around the eyes which pp seems to 'fill'
little things like it
a lot goes on with pp which is good but some which is not wanted... at the time . I think the element of surprise is always there
unlike if we actually are handling paint brushes and having a lot more control in what we want with the finished picture
:)

thanks too Brad
I agree with a lot of what you say
some detail will be stripped away in a 'painting' effect though
I done another using 'dry brush' in Elements. (attached below)
I didn't like how the girl's hand appreared (in the original photograph). I have left it in in this version but the details all over are better so you may prefer them.
also , I was not mad about hiding her good looks in the original ' painting effect' so it may be best like this
thanks again all
much appreciated

ps
( just noticed....I'll maybe remove the bar of the seat on the right, seemly coming from her head .. later)

would have removed it and done some changes only I couldn't delete the post myself. You could edit it & put up a "Woman working - back soon" sign? :D

I thought of doing that Frank
the words may not have been the same though as the words you suggest give 'hope'
then I would have had to come up with the goods real good

Wonderful effects Marie, I do believe I prefer the second one the best, really looks like an oil painting.

I like the effect. Good technique. The only thing that bothers me is the chair in the background.
