Hi All,

I've done a search (here and Google) but can't seem to find what I need.

I'm looking to buy a couple of studio flashes and the ones I like the look of are available as either 700 joule or 1200 joule per head.

However, what do those numbers mean in continous light terms ?

For instance I have two continous halogen lights I use for studio work (product photography) and they are rated at 1000 watts each, but they don't half kick out some heat, hence wanting studio flashes.

So, for now I have 2000 watts of halogen light. I want this (or slightly more light) from my studio flashes.

How do you convert 2000 watts (halogen) to joules, anybody know ?

Cheers

Ian

Seems that a joule is watts per second.

I suspect a 1000 watt flash at 500 joules would take two seconds to charge from zero. One second to charge from half capacity.

I may be wrong, as this is what I gathered from a google search...
