This might be a shot in the dark, but I am hoping to hear back from some Indy photographers who can help me choose a location for a family shoot I was recently hired for. I am an ameutuer and have never charged more than $40 for my services. I've checked into Garfield Park and their website states that they charge $150 for the use of their facilities for "professional" photography.

Any ideas????

Leslie,

Good to see another Indy person on here. Not sure of the specifics of your shoot, but the Indianapolis Museum of Art has amazing places to shoot. There is a place called the Lilly house on it's campus that would be a great background for a family shot. Good luck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the idea for the Art Museum. I will do some research on the place and if I have any questions I'll ask you!

I got on IMA website and it appears to be free to visit and free to park. Do they have policies against using their facilities for photo shoots that you are aware of? I saw nothing on the website referring to this.

I don't believe so. Many local photographers to engagement and general portrait sessions there. Take a drive over there and check it out. It's a beautiful place.

Wow..I just got off of a slideshow of IMA on flickr.com and it looks like a beautiful place for a photo shoot. Thanks for the idea and I'll check it out with my own family for some practice before the real thing!

Holiday Park is another nice place, it's around 7400 Spring Mill on the north side of town.
