The zoom is relatively quiet (well compared to now) and it's just a faint whrrrrr. But after taking the camera with me to Hershey Park I noticied that when I zoom out it makes a slightly louder noise now. Is something wrong or is just natural progression after owning the camera for almost a year now? It could also be that I put it in a zip lock bag and used it to take pictures in partially wet rides (but no water got into the bag).

Also, just for future info does Canon repair cameras? Or is it better to find a shop? Is it also covered under warranty (well probably not anymore cause 1 year is coming up in less then a month).

Yes, Canon repairs cameras. I haven't noticed my A620 getting noisier over time. While you're under warranty it's certainly worth seeing if there is a problem, but I think "slightly louder" is a perceptual thing and not necessarily a real problem. Even if you sent it in, unless something was actually grinding/broken there wouldn't be much they could do.

If the camera was pressing hard enough on the bag to stretch it, you might have put extra pressure on the motors and gears even without water getting in.

Nah the bag wasn't stretched. It was a pretty big zip lock bag. When the camera's zoom is fully extended it was pushing slightly against the bag. But I never used the full zoom when it was in it (don't need to when your friends are right across from you :)).
