Hi,

I am an amature who wishes to try his hand at taking macro shots using a light tent set up. I have looked on ebay and found the following two packages, which are similary priced.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200120657042&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com.au%3A80%2Fsearch%2 Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle %3D200120657042%26fvi%3D1

or

or, am I better off just buying a light tent and using a few standard tungstan desk lamps which would only be $20 odd dollars each ?? or are fluoro better ??

I don't mind spending the money if it is worth it to get better shots, but equally don't want to waste it if the desk lamps will do a good job. Do the lights in the above ebay links seem any good ??

I have a 5D and a Canon 100mm macro lens (as well as a few 'L's that I might use with the set up)

Also whats the best way to get a accurate white balance using one of the above set up's.

Appreciate everyones help and comments.

Cheers,

Simon

both those setups would work so it depends on how much room you have in your house. the fluor ones look huge and hard to pack away. the one with the smaller lamp heads could fit in a closet no problems.

but to save you some money, get this:
