So who's going and what are you using to shoot the action?
I am going light this year--20D with Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, Sigma 1.4x t-con, maybe my Olympus C5050 for some close and wide stuff. I don't think I am going to carry my 17-85 on race day--gotta experiment with it on Saturday along with my flash and battery pack. Sigma 30mm is staying home, along with monopod and other stuff. Epson P-2000 to transfer images.
Likely shoot mostly all JPEG, Large/Fine, and maybe a few RAW--don't know yet--I am still not up to speed on RAW, Lightroom and PSE5 for tweaking these, and I may even drop down to Medium/Fine JPEG just so I don't have to change cards so often.
100oz. hydro pack a must this year!
I guess it all depends on the wx--if it is hard rain predicted, the Canon stays home and I'll bring the C5050 in a UW housing! Maybe an umbrella too!

I'll be there. Was kind of a last minute thing arranging credentials, but they came through.
I'll be shooting with my 1D, and 1DMkII. Lenses I will use are the 300 f/4, 70-200 f.2.8 and a 24-70. My flashes will be mounted all day, but I may or may not use them.

How did you arrange credentials and what are they entitling you to do? Get inside the fence up close on the track? That would be a lot of fun with your gear! I'm just wondering why you would lug the flashes mounted on the bodies if you are not going to use them? And if you do, what would your settings be on the flashes and cameras?

Rudy, I have been working with a magazine up here in Canada for a couple of years now. They arrange the credentials for me. Before my relationship with the magazine I tried to obtain freelance photo passes, but was rejected every time. The credentials will let me inside the fence and the opportunity to shoot from almost anywhere.
As far as the flash thing goes, I didn't word it quite right in my first post. I will use the flash for sure for some shots just for fill, and if I get really close with the 20-70 to do some panning, I will use it for sure then. Actually I was considering firing a remote flash mounted on a tripod for a while just for fun.
Will you be there camping out for the weekend? I should be quite easy to find. If you see a photog hanging around a tan Yukon with Ontario plates, it will most likely be me. I'll be there Sat morning, until the end of the day Sunday. Hope to see you there.

OK Emile--not camping--we only live less than an hour away. I should get affiliated with a magazine so I can get inside the fence--but I don't go as a job--I like to spectate! I'm bringing my son and 3 of his friends I think and need to walk the pits on Saturday--which shouldn't be too crouded. So if you see a geeky guy with a big belly and a tan Tilly hat it's me! I'll look for ya near tan Yukons but I don't slink around parking lots!
Today's wx rpt was sunny, 76F hi and 57F low both Sat and Sun--should be a great weekend for mx!

I will be heading up, hopefully early Saturday morning. I just got my credentials today, which is nice but really short notice for me. I actually had another event lined up for this weekend that I will have to miss, but definitely worth it. The long range forecast is looking good for this weekend, so that is a positive. Emile, I will look forward to seeing you again! As of now I am not planning on camping. I am going to hope on finding a hotel within 1 hour drive.
