Would appreciate any feedback re: Canon 75-300 USM & Tamron 75-300 4-5.6 LD .
Also considering Canon 75-300 IS USM or perhaps Tamron 75-300 with 1.4 xtender.
Appreciate all feedback.

Do you mean the Tamron 70-300 4-5.6 LD? I have that lens. Its actually a pretty good lens for the money (under $200) if you are on a budget... light and a pretty good feel to it. No USM (or equivalent) on it, so the focus is slower (and louder) than USM lenses, but certainly not unbearable. I have gotten what I think are excellent shots with it and still use it when I can't be carrying those big white monstrosities. I can point you to some images taken with the Tamron. Let me know.

I second to that.
