Amazingly these birds are only three and a half inches long (8-9cm) and feed on lerps and insects in eucalyptus trees. They are spotted pardalotes.
They nest in burrows in river banks and cliff faces and have a very distinctive call I cant really describe. After countless attempts at getting a good photo of these very active little birds I finally have some to show.

I get the feeling he caugt a glimpse of his own reflection in the lens.
