Newbie -- Criticism?

This is my first photo posted here. I bought my 30D a month ago (first attempt at being a prosumer) and I just got the 70-200 f/4 lens today, so I took it out for a test shot. Not sure if this fits in the urban category, it's more like "urban nature" :P Any criticisms? Particularly on color and lighting? My monitor is not calibrated so it's a guessing game. I intend for it to be a little dark to give it an "older" feel, but high contrast for "pop". Thanks.

I'm no expert what so ever, but by my observation it looks fine. White is white without being burnt. Highlights, lowlights and mid-tones look true and definable. Looks well exposed. All in all looks...well fine!

i have zero problems with the pic. It starts to tell "forgoten place" story -- but there's not enough content in this image to finish the job. Isolation images like this work, but i want to see a series. What does the rest of this decaying environment look like? This picture has me interested, the natural progression is to look around. I know you wanted technical C&C - sorry :)

Cool thanks. My settings are brightness 0, contrast 50, and color default "cool", so I was worried what I see would be drastically different from what others see.

yea, unfortunately there's only one other interesting thing there, which is a dirty dried up jaccuzzi, but it's not quite scummy enough imo. Plus, a jaccuzzi just doesnt seem to match the rustic nature of the sign. This is on my apartment roof btw, haha. "Pool and Jaccuzzi!" my ass :P
