Ive almost got enough saved to buy my new 10D. Im wondering if you guys think the following deal is a fair price and a reasonable setup for an amateur ?

Canon EOS 10D Digital SLR
+ 28-80 + 75-300 Canon Lenses
+ 3 Yr Intl Warranty
+ 256MB CF

$2600 au

I really wanted to start with a good all round L series lens but the deal includes those other 2 lenses. Is it feasible that i could sell the other 2 lenses for a decent price and get a new L series lens ? Also, what would be a good all round L lens ? I was thinking of maybe a 28-135 USM IS in the L series (not even sure if one is available). In a few months i was going to get the 100-400 L.

Getting excited :-D

In my opinion, the 28-80 lens is not good enough for a 10D. Also the 250Mb card is to small, this is for only 35pictures in Raw mode.
The 75-300 can give you decent results providing you close down to f8 so you can keep it, but if you plan to buy a 100-400L there is no interest on the 75-300.
Don't you think it could be more interesting to try to find a good deal for a different set, 10D + 17-40L + 1Gb card ?

Buy the body separately from B&H in NY. The 28-135 IS is not an L lens but a very good lens anyway. Probably around $1800 USA for the outfit and you will love it. Get a 500 MB card to start with.

I have the 10D for more then a year now and I can say that I'm in love with it!
It's an amazing camera and for me, as an amatur photographer, it gives me a lot of flexability to learn and advance with my photography skills.

I've baught at first with the 28-200 Canon lens, and I wasn't happy with the lens at all.
The 10D sensor has a factor of 1:6 when using a lens which means that it will decrease the area available for the shot substentially.
I know own the 24-80 & the 75-300 lenses and they both give me good cover for the range that I need.
You can check out some of the photos that I've took with the camera at this address -
