Hello all....

I've been playing with the pic below, a what I think to be nice candid shot of my wife and son. I've done some cropping and a B&W conversion on it but still feel the crop is off. Should I get rid of the window at the top, is it distracting? I've dodged it a bit, but going any further with the dodge tool past where it is now makes the window look fake?

Any C&C is welcome and thanks in advance.

Boy, now that I see the shot on the forum I realize the depth of field really has my son's face blurry, maybe I'm not as in love with the pic as I was. :(

It's still a good shot. Candids are difficult to capture with perfect focus.

I'd crop out about 1/2 of the window. That'd put your son's eyes about 1/3 down and your wife's eyes about 1/3 up. I'm not trying to be precise on the rule of thirds, but I scrolled your photo off the top of my screen and it really does work.

Great advice, below is where I ended up. I cropped out a bit more of the window, sharpened my son's face a bit to put it a bit more in focus and dodged the window a picture frame a bit more.

Thoughts?

You also cloned out some of the window dressing. Good work on that. It looks much better.

Actually if you crop into his head just above his eyebrows you loose the window and put more emphasis on the other person.
