Hi
I am about to pull the trigger to get the Hoya Pro1 circular polarisor filter for my sigma 17-70mm lens. Does this filter allow me to put the sigma's lens cap over it?
Thanks
Patrick

Hi Patrick, I don't have the sigma but I do have that CPL in the 77mm for my Canon 17-40 and a couple of other lenses. It is threadeded on both sides, not like the B+W (I think) 3mm extra thin, so if the Sigma cap is like the Canon cap then it should fit.
Enjoy that filter. I've been having a blast with mine!:D

As Stuart says, should work fine.

Forgot to ask too if I could fit the sigma 17-70 lens hood over the filter?
Thanks

Well. again I will speculate, being ignorant of the Sigma.
My 17-40 Canon hood locks onto the end of the lens, like it does with all three of my lenses. What I mean is as I mount it, because the hood "opening" is larger than the diameter of the filter, they never touch as I place on the lens. There is nothing on the filter for the hood to grab onto.
I'm not sure if that was phrased well - getting to my bedtime, but did that make sense I hope  ?
Thanks Gents

I have the 17-70 and a Hoya Digital Pro-1 circular polarizer. I recently got tired of using the Sigma lens cap on the filter when the hood was on. I always managed to get slight finger prints on the filter at inopportune times. I bought a Tamron center-pinch cap (72mm) and am glad I did. There are also center-pinch caps on eBay.
