Hey

I'm doing my first prom shoot later today, I spent last evening practising on the wife and have an idea in my head as to what settings I need but I'd like some suggestions if possible.

I'll be using my new 5D with either/and 24-105f4/70-200f4. I'll have the camera set on manual, 1/125/f5.6 and will have my 430ex set at 1/64 power with softbox for fill flash.

This setup seemed to work OK last night.

Any suggestions/help/hysterical laughing would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Julian

I would let the camera/flash ettl system do it's thing for fill flash. Set the custom function for flash metering to evaluative (can't remember which # it is on my 30D) and 0 FEC to start and adjust the FEC up or down for the amount of fill. If the light changes then you have a better chance of the camera making the right compensation for the changes.

Remember the softbox will really cut down on your flash effective distance I think about in half.
