Very close. I was out looking for Hawks and walking by our feeder. This little guy landed, while I was about 10ft away. DOF is very shallow(420-mm at 10ft), but I thought he was cute enough to post.

Not sure what happened to the exposure on this shot. The highlights near the back of his neck are blown-out, but there wasn't any clipping in Lightrooms Histogram.

Thanks, Jim & Cooper.
I love these little guys.
I figured. I used your recent post to identify him :)
They visit our feeder regularly, but they're so small I've never been close enough for a detail shot. Even at 10ish feet I did a lot of cropping.

We have a long standing bird feeder in a county Park near here that someone put up years ago. Enough people know about it that it pretty much gets kept full of bird feed year around, especially in winter. The chickadees, nuthatch's and even downy woodpeckers are so tame there they will land in your hand to feed. Sometimes I just go down there to play with the birds and don't even get the camera out. :D
