View Full Version : Cropping & Resizing with Photoshop

This is probably a basic question but I have not found the information in this forum thro the normal search.

After cropping with photoshop, I have found it difficult to print 8X10 or other standard size, as when I try to get the height (width) right, the width (height) automatically changes, as if it is set to a particular frame.

Any advice as to how it can be overcome?

Uncheck "Constrain Proportions"

Firstly, which tool are you using to crop your photos. The most simple
way is to use the CROP tool and set the WIDTH and the HEIGHT para-
meters to 8 x 10 and leave the resolution empty.

The other way is to use the marquee tool and in the STYLE window use
FIXED ASPECT RATIO and enter 8 and 10. Now any selection you make
will fit 8x10. Go to the IMAGE menu and select CROP.

Hope this helps.

If you are cropping, then you need to make sure your height and width ratios are set in the options bar the way you want them (8x10, 4x6, etc.) If you don't want a specific ratio, make sure the fields are left blank.

EDIT: Looks like 4walls beat me to it

Thanks for the solution. This is what makes this such a great forum, especially for a begiiner.

Chuck,

"One photo out of focus is a mistake,
ten photos out of focus are an experimentation,
one hundred photos out of focus are a style."

I have style!
