I've got an old 340 Meg microdrive that I've had for a couple of years now. I got it originally for my camera, but now I use it in my Pocket PC that can play MP3 files..

It gets warm.. Especially when running continuously playing music for an hour or so.. I can feel the heat right through the case of the pocket PC That's seems to be normal..

It's funny.... with all that heat you'd think it would put a dent in battery life.. I've never noticed any difference..

Whats weird is it only got hot like that while it was formatting. Now that its in the camera it barely gets warm.

Well think about it....when your formatting your doing some serious "work" to that card, when it's in the camera it only reads/writes every once and a while.

I've had a bad expirence with Microdrives. For a while I thought they were the greatest, esp since they can hold so much. But 2 years ago, I blew two of them up within a weeks time due to over heating. They didn't "blow" up, but they began making a very wierd Whining sound and they refused to read.
