Hi all,

in my backyard there is this bush and it seems to attract these tiny little butterflies. They have a wingspan of about 3/4 of an inch, and don't stay still for too long! I didn't spend much time with them roday, but plan to take some time in the next few days, to get better shots than these. They are not spectacularly colourful or anything, I just want to capture one, a nice sharp photo. I just wish they'd stay still! :O

All of these were taken with the 70-200 L f/2.8 and all three Kenko extension tubes attached (these butterflies are tiny!):

This next one has been in the wars, he's got a chunk of his wing missing...

I love that first one. The second one is obscured a little by the blurry wing. But still an amazing feat from what you've described. Well done! :)

Cgesteland has great comments.

First it sort of looks as if both have lost some of their wing surface ! If so, these little guys are in deep trouble. (Maybe one of our Australian Entomologists can comment on that.)

I kind of liked the second shot (except for the “whatever blur” that it seems to be sitting on. I like to lighted green background that sets it off as well as the blue that outlines it skeletal wing structure et al. Your camera has certainly caught lots of structural bits, shades, tints and detail just above the insect’s body.

Thanks Rudi
